Turkey’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency HE Unal Çeviköz, will visit Jersey next week.
During his visit, the Ambassador will meet the Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and will stay as a guest of the Lieutenant Governor, General Sir John McColl, at Government House. His delegation includes Turkey’s chief economic counsellor and representatives from Istanbul’s banking exchange and Turkey’s Capital Markets Board.
Senator Gorst said: “This visit will be an important opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest on economic and European issues. This is an opportunity to develop stronger diplomatic relations.
“Turkey is one of the MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey) emerging economic powers and has a rapidly-developing finance industry. I believe that, as a leading international finance centre with strong and robust regulation, there are opportunities to work together, and I look forward to meeting His Excellency, Mr Çeviköz.”
The Ambassador will also meet representatives of the Island’s finance industry and will be the guest of honour at a dinner hosted by the Deputy Bailiff, William Bailhache.
