Advocate Jamie Orchard has been promoted to an Associate in recognition of his contribution to Viberts’ family law team since joining in 2014.
Advocate Orchard successfully represented a client in the landmark and highly complicated case of A v B [2015]JRC262. This confirmed that the definition of ‘parent’ can extend beyond biological, adoptive and step-parent under the Children (Jersey) Law 2002. The case was appealed and he was again successful.
In addition he handles cross jurisdictional children’s matters (including Hague Convention proceedings) plus difficult contact and residence private law children matters, including parental alienation.
Family law partner, Rose Colley said: “Jamie thoroughly deserves this promotion after leading some particularly challenging cases and achieving positive outcomes for our clients. He has a huge amount of potential and, in line with Viberts’ commitment to nurturing talent from within our business, we want to see him develop his career with us.”
