Viewpoint: what's the best way to entertain clients?

Friday 18 May 2018

Every month in Connect magazine, ViewPoint puts forward a key question facing one of the island's main industry sectors - and then a group of leading practitioners give their take on the answer, and what it means for Jersey.

This month, Jamie Guyer, Managing Director of Optimus Recruitment, gives his take on the best way to entertain clients.

"There’s nothing like a trip out on Jersey’s beautiful clear blue seas to clear the mind and give you fresh perspective, and personally I love nothing more than taking clients out on a RIB trip at least a couple of times during the summer.

"At Optimus I’ve been fortunate to work with many of our clients since I established the business ten years ago, and truly appreciate just how much fun it is to spend time getting to know them better, and taking the opportunity to ‘get away’ from it all. Whilst exploring the Island’s coastline we reflect on how the finance industry has changed and evolved over the years and learn what we can do better in partnership with our clients to continually tap into Jersey’s diverse talent pool.

"Throwing in the thrill of a bumpy ride over to France, a glass of wine, great food and a rare sighting of some dolphins, truly makes for a fun adventure. This informal arena lends itself perfectly for us to learn about ongoing client changes, challenges and inspiring ‘wins’ within their business which helps us identify appropriate talent we feel would best compliment their needs.

"Heading from France back to the familiarity of Gorey Harbour it’s wonderful to be able to grab a nightcap overlooking the east coast of the Island, with the backdrop of the castle and have a laugh at the evening’s shenanigans!"
