Shelia Henwood / Baker (retired CEO) “Andrew Green is an honest, hardworking Jersey man with a clear mind, an abundance of common sense and an excellent track record as Minister of Housing . He cares passionately about this Island and its residents, about fair play, about value for money and about social justice. He is friendly and approachable but independently minded and tough when tackling problems. He has all the qualities and skills to make an excellent Senator.”

Andrew's dogged determination, hard work and ability to recognise all sides of any proposal to establish and forge Government and States Tenants support is a testament of his political qualities in achieving such a momentous shift in Jersey's Social Housing that I am certain, without Andrew as the Housing Minister, the HTP would have remained a proposition to be debated time and again. Andrew delivers what he promises “

Dear Voter,
On October 15th 2014 you go to the polls to vote in Jersey’s first ever General Election.
I would like you to consider my track record, as well as my vision for the future, before deciding who to vote for. Having proudly served as Deputy in St Helier District 3 & 4 for two terms of office, I now seek election as Senator. It is essential that we plan for the long term future of the Island.
I am a man of action. When it became clear that the funding for the renovation of the Pomme D’or Farm Estate was not available I successfully persuaded the Council of Ministers to provide funding to successfully complete this project. It soon came to my attention that other estates were in similar need of investment and this is why I stood for and was duly elected as Housing Minister. In this role I have worked hard and delivered improvements for many Islanders through my innovative Housing Transformation Programme. This programme acknowledged the problems of the past and provided honest long term solutions; solutions that are now being implemented with many now enjoying the benefit of warmer and modern homes.
Having held and delivered results in a junior ministerial role I now ask for your support to elect me as a Senator with an Island wide mandate in order for me to bid for the position of Health Minister. Included in this leaflet are some of my priorities for the next Government. I hope that you will agree with most of these and feel confident that I will continue to work hard for you.
YoursAndrew Green

Andrew Green: Thinks Independently, Works Collectitively
Economy.
We must ensure that we have a successful, vibrant and diverse economy that is ready to take advantage of the green shoots of recovery as well as consolidating our existing Finance Industry.
It is essential that we rebuild our Tourism Industry. This will provide employment for our community as well as increasing income for the Island. Tourists help to support and protect our air links through increased demand and in turn provide choice for both our business and local travellers.
We must ensure that both Government & Industry are responsive to global changes. We cannot sit on our hands and let our competitors gain advantage. Relationships with other jurisdictions are integral to our future prosperity.
The emergence of Digital Jersey has been hugely beneficial to our IT sector. Both Government and Industry must ensure that they are proactive in furthering our position in the global digital economy.
Government must continue to encourage our agricultural industry particularly our dairy industry with schemes such as exporting to China .
A healthy economy allows for the funding of essential public services such as health and education; also the support of those most in need in our community.
Ageing Population.
Our ageing population poses real challenges and opportunities for the future. We need to ensure that the needs of the elderly are included in our decision making. We need to utilise the wealth of skills and expertise that the older generation have in order to make sure that ours is a society of inclusion and not exclusion. I also advocate working closer with charitable organisations in order to support and assist in the provision of community care.
Health.
If elected I would like to seek election as the Health Minister. Funding is currently in place for the provision of a part new and part renovated hospital over two sites. There is no doubt that we have to invest significantly and that the provision of a new modern hospital is essential. I will need to be convinced that this is best delivered on two sites and I commit to reviewing the options available within the first 100 days. There must be greater investment in the provision of community services such as mental health and other community support such as respite care.
Housing.
Good quality housing is essential. Through Andium Homes affordable rental homes will be transformed thanks to the funding that has been made available. Affordable homes to purchase will follow as directed by the new Strategic Housing Unit. Further work is required to ensure that affordable housing sold under different schemes remains affordable when being subsequently sold on as well as a minimum standard of homes set for all tenants.
Population.
Skills and population these are two closely linked issues. A suitably trained and experienced work force is essential to the Island’s economy. Without this either the economy will decline or employers will seek to employ greater numbers of suitably skilled people from outside of Jersey.
Education.
A more creative and inventive approach is needed in our schools. Students seeking a career in the vocational sector should be encouraged and provided with suitable training from age 14, whilst those seeking an academic route continue their studies. If we are to find solutions to both youth unemployment and skills availability we must not be afraid to do things differently.
