The 2025 Lions Swimarathon will take place on Wednesday to Sunday 19 to 23 March and the theme for the event, sponsored by Ravenscroft, will be supporting Islanders with cancer.

“Recent headlines have drawn attention that one in two people nationally and locally are likely to be touched by cancer and therefore we felt it very appropriate to dedicate the next Swimarathon to supporting those in Jersey with the condition, “says the president of the Lions Club of Jersey, Lion Damon Greber. “We have invited the local charities involved with cancer to apply for funding from the event and if there are any whom we haven’t contacted yet  we would be happy to hear from them.”

The 2025 Swimarathon will be the 53rd event which started as a one-off “Lions Sponsored Swim” in January 1972. Since then the Swimarathon (named as such after the second event) has raised almost £4 million from the ever-generous Jersey public and local corporate sponsors.

“Ravenscroft is very generously sponsoring the event for the seventh time. Their involvement covers all the costs involved with the event and this means that every penny raised by the swimmers will go to the beneficiaries and other good causes supported by the Lions,” says Lion Greber. “We hope that this event’s theme this will also spur the swimmers to even greater efforts in raising funds.”

More than 150 schools, companies, clubs, charities and friends and family teams who took part in the 2024 event have been notified of the dates and more invited to participate in March. Ends
