As part of a regular programme of external visitors to the College to enhance and inspire Sixth Form learning, Victoria College was delighted to welcome two international bestselling authors this week during The Festival of Words.
Sebastian Faulks, multi-award-winning British novelist, journalist and broadcaster, best known for his historical novels set in France including The Girl at the Lion d'Or, Birdsong and Charlotte Gray, talked about his career and why he was inspired by English to become a writer that led him to receive a CBE for services to Literature.
Gytha Lodge, a multi-award-winning playwright, bestselling novelist of thrillers including 'She Lies in Wait' and 'Watching from the Dark', and writer for video games and screen, also visited us to run sessions with our students focused on creative writing and scriptwriting. She brought her morning with us to a close, giving an inspirational assembly to our Year 7 students about her career journey.
Thank you to both Sebastian and Gytha for dedicating time to Victoria College students throughout Thursday and Friday morning. Having access to such knowledge, expertise and experience is critical to our students' learning and development both in the younger Year groups and in Sixth Form as the students consider further education and careers pathways.
