The continued growth and expansion of Jersey’s local airline, sees Blue Islands acquire its first ATR-72 aircraft. The largest aircraft of the fleet will have sixty-six seats and be in operation by December. The continued growth and expansion of Jersey’s local airline, sees Blue Islands acquire its first ATR-72 aircraft. The largest aircraft of the fleet will have sixty-six seats and be in operation by December.

This acquisition marks a poignant time for the local business as it invests in yet bigger aircraft and is the third aircraft procured this year.

Managing director, Rob Veron comments,

“This is very exciting news as we not only take delivery of our third aircraft acquired this year, but a larger aircraft with 43% more capacity than the ATR-42. Enhancing our connections and the experience for our passengers is at the forefront of our minds as we move into 2014 with strategic business plans just as ambitious as the past three years.”

The ATR-72 is the larger of the ATR turboprop series, of which Blue Islands currently own four – three scheduled to operate across the network and one is a dedicated spare to back up the fleet. The airline is currently undertaking this year’s third recruitment drive to recruit ATR captains and cabin crew.
