With over half of the lanes now booked for next year’s Swimarathon, the event organisers, the Lions Club of Jersey, are urging potential  teams not to delay registering to avoid missing the boat.

Jersey’s longest running charity event, which takes place between 12–16 March 2014 at Les Quennevais Sports Centre, is a great family event and a valuable way to raise much-needed funds for local children’s charities, the focus for the fund-raising next year.

Oakwell Children’s Respite Centre has been selected as the main beneficiary of the funds raised by participants in the event with an additional 25 Jersey-based children’s charities encouraged to apply to share at least £25,000.

Lions Club of Jersey President, Lion Chris Clarke said: ‘We have received a magnificent response to our launch with a record number of lanes taken already. Once again it is proof of the great affection that Jersey has for this event. We are hoping that the weather is a little kinder to us next year but know that the commitment will be just as strong’.

Chris Blampied, Head of Banking, RBC Wealth Management commented: ‘We had a great turn out this year, and I hope that we can match and exceed the number of teams entered and the funds raised. The focus on children’s charities is an inspired choice and I am personally looking forward to taking part in another successful event.’

Information and registrations are available from the Swimarathon Administrator, PO Box 397, St Helier, Jersey JE4 9ZX or via e-mail Swimarathon@jerseymail.co.uk
