Family Nursing and Home Care has issued an ‘urgent’ call for sponsorship for its flagship fundraising event of the year.
The charity is hosting a colour festival on 20 May, which involves a 5km run through five colour stations, where participants are ‘showered’ with coloured powder paint.
FNHC CEO Rosemarie Finley described the Our Colour Festival as ‘one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar, and we are determined to ensure it goes ahead this year despite the setbacks we have faced’.
The charity said that two businesses had to withdraw their charitable sponsorship for this year, and that organisers were ‘urgently seeking a new sponsor to help ensure the event can go ahead as planned’.
Ms Finley said: ‘We are calling on our community to rally together and support us in this endeavour, and we are confident that, with the help of our sponsors, we can make this year’s event our best yet.’
Last year, the event attracted more than 900 participants.
The charity provides prenatal and parental care and supports children, young people, families and members of the community ‘who need healthcare or support in their homes’.
Profits from this year’s festival will help fund the charity’s paediatric palliative care worker, who provides respite for families with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
