Due to popular demand, another race category has been added to the Hospice 2 Hospice Half Marathon.
The event is adding a four-person relay, with four stages of approximately five kilometres each. This will open the event up to people who want to run shorter distances as part of a team.
The half marathon in aid of the care and support provided by Jersey Hospice Care to islanders with life-limiting illnesses and their families is proudly sponsored by professional services firm EY.
With 7 weeks to go until the big day and more than 370 runners so far signed up to take part, the new category will take place on the same day, Sunday 26 March, in four stages along the half marathon course. It starts at the charity’s fundraising shop in St Ouen, loops around the stunning country lanes nearby before heading through St John to the finish at Hospice, Mont Cochon.
The registration fee for a four-person team is £68 and runners can sign-up here. at www.jerseyhospicecare.com/events.
Event organiser, Rai Fulton, said: “I’ve been talking to a number of people who have said that they want to take part but aren’t ready to take on the half marathon distance, so we thought, why not? Let’s make it happen for them! And added the new category.”
Francis Malaspina, a Partner at EY in Jersey, added: “It’s fantastic to see so many people have already signed up to this year’s half marathon and we’re delighted to be able to open it up wider to capture others who want to do their bit. We are proud to be sponsoring an event that raises funds for such a vital charity in our local community.”
Registration is also still open for individuals and two-person relay teams with registration fees of £27 and £45 respectively. Last year’s Hospice 2 Hospice half marathon saw over 250 runners take part and raised £20,000 for the Hospice.
