Jersey Women’s national team travel to island-rivals Guernsey this weekend to take part in the T20 Inter Insular series. The 3 games will be played over Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June at KGV playing fields. Jersey currently hold trophy having won the series 3-0 on home soil last year.
The national team return to action for the first time following the ICC European tournament last month where they finished 3rd just outside of the promotion places. It included some outstanding team performances throughout the week alongside individual ones including the first T20i fifty for a number 8 batter in Women’s cricket by Grace Wetherall and Jersey’s first 5 wicket haul from captain Chloe Greechan.
Head Coach, Lee Meloy, stated ‘’the girls are excited to get back on the field together after a few weeks break. They have hit the ground running since returning to training and will be prepared for the challenge this weekend. These games mean a lot to both sets of players so will be a great series of contests.
We have made a few changes to the squad either through injury or unavailability, but it gives other players a chance to step up and show their skills to put their hand up for a starting spot moving forward”.
