Jersey Sport are delighted to announce the launch of their workshop and training programme for 2023, kindly sponsored by Intertrust Group.
The island’s local sports workforce, many of whom are volunteers, are vital in enabling sport and physical activity functions in Jersey to flourish.
Over the course of the year, Jersey Sport are offering 32 workshops for local sports organisations to assist with upskilling the island’s sports workforce, including training on 15 important subjects such as Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport, Emergency Sports First Aid, plus Mental Health in Sport and Physical Activity.
There are also workshops available about operational subjects including Data Protection for Sports Organisations, and how sports can enhance their Marketing and Communications. For a quick glance view, please take a look at our workshop and training calendar which can be found here.
Nicola Giraud, Deputy Managing Director at Intertrust Group said, “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a great initiative with Jersey Sport. At Intertrust Group, we feel that this sponsorship synergises with our core focus around respecting rules, compliance and governance within business and we are excited to help support this initiative with Jersey Sport through these continuing professional development workshops and training. We are proud to be able to assist with growing and developing this upskilling programme for all volunteers and sports organisations in Jersey.”
Claire Stott, Head of Sport Strategy and Insight at Jersey Sport said, “One of Jersey Sport's key priorities is to continue SUPPORTIN SPORT through the development of safe and sustainable sport and physical activity organisations which meet the needs of all our communities. In 2022 we directly upskilled 310 volunteers through a variety of training and workshop opportunities, but with the support of Intertrust Group we expect this number to double in 2023! We are hugely grateful for the support and know that sport and physical activity organisations across the island will benefit significantly this year and that the focus on strong governance and management will impact for many years to come."
Workshops are free for not-for-profit sports organisations and sports charities run by volunteers, with a small fee charged to profit-making sports. Sports organisations that answered our feedback survey about last year’s workshops stated they found the training they attended extremely valuable.
The Minister for Sport, Deputy Lucy Stephenson, said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Island’s sports clubs and, without them, many clubs would struggle to continue. I’m delighted to see the strong partnerships between Jersey businesses and Jersey Sport being used to enable training programmes to support them, and I’d encourage other organisations to consider following Intertrust Group in supporting community-centric initiatives.”
