Les Amis has been selected as Jersey Post’s chosen charity for 2018, following a unanimous staff vote taken in December of last year.

The charity has been in operation for over 40 years and is one of the largest charitable organisations and residential service providers on the island. Les Amis’ aim is to deliver and develop quality services in partnerships that support people with learning disabilities and/or associated conditions to experience positive and equal opportunities in Jersey.

Since 2013, Jersey Post has committed a year of fundraising to multiple local charities including Headway Jersey, Macmillan Jersey, Jersey Alzheimer’s Association and the Jersey Cheshire Home increasing awareness of these charities and raising funds of over £20,000 each year.

Tim Brown, Chief Executive of Jersey Post, said: “We are dedicated to giving something back to our local communities and helping to improve the lives of those around us. Our staff will play an active role in raising funds for Les Amis this year through a variety of individual, team and company-wide initiatives.”

Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis, said: “We are delighted that Jersey Post has chosen Les Amis as its charity of the year for 2018. The planned staff fundraising activities sound fantastic and we look forward to working together to raise lots of money for the charity. Throughout 2018, we are hoping to raise awareness of the complications our residents face in old age and in particular, when they develop dementia. While we are fundraising to develop a new elderly and complex needs unit Jersey Post’s generous offer will ensure our message reaches every home in Jersey.”

In order to raise funds for Les Amis, Jersey Post will be undertaking a wide array of fundraising initiatives throughout the year.
