Kartoon Faktory is using this year’s ‘Thinking of You Week’ to raise money for Age Concern Jersey.
Following a tough couple of years dominated by Covid and now with food and fuel prices soaring, the team at Kartoon Faktory decided to do something to relieve at least some of the anxiety people may be feeling as autumn approaches. In addition, according to www.campaigntoendlonliness.org 45% of adults feel occasionally, sometimes, or often lonely and the number of over-50’s experiencing loneliness is set to reach two million by 2025/26.
Thinking Of You Week was launched in 2014 with the aim of harnessing the caring impact of giving and receiving cards, to reinforce much needed connections and happiness around the world, by encouraging everyone to send cards during the week and show that they care.
To encourage islanders to take part in the week Kartoon Faktory will donate a FREE local stamp for every greeting card purchased from them during Thinking Of You Week, which this year is 19th – 25th September. In addition, all proceeds from card sales during the week will be donated to Age Concern Jersey.
Cameron McPhail, founder of Kartoon Faktory said: “Kartoon Faktory is a fun brand, so we wanted to help bring a smile or two to islanders and at the same time raise some money for a deserving local charity. We know, from experience, the members of Age Concern are a fun-loving group, so hopefully we can contribute to their work.”
Paul Simmonds, Senior Manager of Age Concern Jersey commented: “We were thrilled when Kartoon Faktory contacted us and offered to use their promotion to raise funds for Age Concern Jersey. The cheeky humour on the cards is perfectly in keeping with the fun and humour we enjoy each day at our Centre.”
Kartoon Faktory began their campaign on 30th August with a competition to come up with an alternative caption for a few of the cartoons. The winning captions will be available as greeting cards on the Kartoon Faktory website in time for their Thinking of You Week campaign that will launch on Saturday 17th September at the Genuine Jersey artisan market in St Aubin. Going forward, these card designs will be sold online and at events in aid of Age Concern Jersey.
Paul Simmonds added: “We hope that this fantastic initiative helps to lift the spirits of the many people who have encountered tough times over the past two years, and we will ensure that the donation goes towards a fun activity or event for all to enjoy. We are very grateful to Kartoon Faktory for considering us, this promotion is such a lovely and simple way of letting someone know you care; I really hope that Islanders get behind it and take part.”
