St John Ambulance Jersey is to be presented with a new ambulance vehicle by the Mark Master Masons, an order of the Freemasons, at 12.00 noon on Saturday 16th February 2019, at the Masonic Temple in Stopford Road, St Helier. The donation is part of nationwide project with a fleet of new ambulances being donated to St John around England, Wales and the Channel Islands.
The vehicle is one of fifty two funded by the Mark Master Masons through their Mark Benevolent Fund (MBF) to the Order of St John with the specific aim of providing new ambulances, treatment centres and support vehicles to St John.
Although the vehicle is not of the same specification as the States of Jersey Emergency Ambulances, it will be used by St John volunteers in their work providing first aid cover at events around the island. Each year volunteers attend numerous public events, including Liberation Day, sporting fixtures, summer shows and school fetes.
The Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons of the Channel Islands, Right Worshipful Brother Derek Upton, as the representative of the Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, will hand the keys of the new vehicle over to Mr Trevor Le Maistre, the Commandery Vehicle Custodian for St John Ambulance, Jersey.
The vehicle will be dedicated and blessed for use by St John Ambulance, Jersey by the Commandery Chaplain the Dean of Jersey, The Very Reverend Mike Keirle.
Also present will be Mr John Bell, a Trustee of the MBF, Mr Darren Coleman-Heald, theMBF Charities Manager, the Provincial Grand Master of Jersey’s Freemasons, RightWorshipful Brother Kenneth Michael Rondel and his deputy, Very Worshipful Brother Graham Leonard Spence together with other local senior Freemasons, and a number of Mark Master Masons.

From St John Jersey will be the St John Commandery Vehicle Custodian Mr Trevor Le Maistre, the Commissioner Operations Mrs Micki Swift, the Chairman David Le Quesne, the Commander John Pinel, the Commandery Executive Officer Barry Marsden, and volunteers of St John Jersey.
The Commissioner Operations of St John Jersey said; St John Ambulance Jersey is grateful to receive this Ambulance. This vehicle will replace one of the existing vehicles which was also donated by the Mark Masons several years ago. This donation will enable members to continue to provide first aid cover at the many events across the island. The vehicle will provide not only a place to treat the public at an event, we will be able to transport those in need to the Emergency Department.
Derek Upton, the Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons said, “InFreemasonry one of the important principles we embrace is to reach out into the world beyond Freemasonry to help others who are not Freemasons and try to do good to all.
