Mourant has maintained all of its 25 top tier rankings across key practice areas in all three of the UK's leading legal directories. The firm was praised by clients as being 'head and shoulders above the rest' and ‘exceptional, with particularly impressive strength in depth'.
Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000, three of the world's most highly regarded directories, launched their annual guides to the UK's leading lawyers at the end of October. Both compile rankings and commentary based on feedback from peers and clients, backed up by independent research.
Among the Chambers & Partners rankings, Mourant was the only firm recognised in Band 1 in Guernsey for Offshore Dispute Resolution. Meanwhile, the Jersey office was recognised in Tier 1 in seven separate practice areas in The Legal 500, including Investment Funds.
As well as the firm’s practice area rankings, 51 individual lawyers across Guernsey, Jersey and London received praise from clients and peers, with most recognised in all guides as leaders in their field of practice.
With several new names added this year as 'up and coming' practitioners and 'associates to watch', the guides recognised the firm's outstanding client service at every level.
Mourant Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: "2018 has been a standout year for us. Along with a major rebrand, we’ve enjoyed significant growth across our global network and have played a key role in many of the most high-profile deals and cases in the offshore market. In an industry first, we also achieved, and remain the only offshore law firm to maintain the IS0 27001 accreditation for information security."
The firm's market leading Jersey funds team recently advised CVC Capital Partners on the launch of CVC Capital Partners VII, its seventh flagship fund and the largest ever European Private Equity firm fundraising. The fund closed with a hard cap of approximately €15.5 billion.
Rigby continued: "Being recognised in these directories for the quality of the work we undertake, and the calibre of our people, is extremely important to us because we aim to go the extra mile in everything we do, in genuine partnership with our clients and their advisers. It's great to have positive affirmation that we're achieving that, and I'd like to personally thank all those who took the time to provide feedback on our services."
Mourant employs over 500 people across its offices in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey and London. The firm advises all of the world's top 30 largest law firms, 90% of the world's top 50 banks and 72% of the top 45 global private equity houses.
