Maillards Funeral Directors and Ransoms Garden Centre have joined forces in a unique community project which will see one Jersey Lily gifted to every family who entrust their loved one to Maillards.
From 2021, Maillards is giving its client’s families one Jersey Lily to plant in a location of their choice, with the bulbs donated by Ransoms Garden Centre.
The project forms part of the Maillards Celebrating Life initiative, its purpose to sponsor local projects that celebrate someone’s life. The initiative’s emblem is the Jersey Lily which represents both Jersey and the beauty of someone’s life. Both businesses are locally owned by Jersey families – Ransoms Garden Centre has been run and owned by the Ransom family since its founding in 1966 and Maillards remains Jersey’s only family-owned funeral directors since 1928.
Katherine Ransom, a director at Ransoms Garden Centre says, “We are honoured to be part of this project that celebrates life through the continuity of the Jersey Lily, an iconic flower to our Island.”
Mark Reynolds, CEO at Elme Group, which owns Maillards Funeral Directors says, “It was a natural fit for our two families to work in partnership to make this project a reality and forms part of the Maillards Celebrating Life initiative. Our purpose is for each Jersey Lily to be a token to remember a loved one.”
Maillards Funeral Directors remains Jersey's only family-owned funeral directors, 92 years on. Maillards still upholds its founder's traditional values with a modern approach and is the first choice for many Jersey families. For more information visit www.maillardsfunerals.co.uk.
