The British Heart Foundation (BHF) in Jersey has received a charitable boost of more than £3,300 from Rossborough.

Through staff donations during a series of dress down days, the local insurance broker raised £1,687.26, which the business then matched to bring the grand total to £3,374.52.

The BHF is currently focusing on life-saving research to prevent more locals dying from cardiovascular disease – which causes one in four deaths in Jersey. The money will go towards specialist equipment, training and research which is conducted in the UK, with the outcomes of the research directly benefitting islanders.

Each year, Rossborough staff are asked to suggest a charity which will be the recipient of funds raised on monthly dress down days, and the BHF was consistently named as the most popular charity that employees would like to support.

Clive De La Cour, group managing director of Rossborough, said: ‘The Rossborough team has shown how generous they are in raising such a fantastic amount of money for the British Heart Foundation, and I am delighted that the company is able to match their efforts by doubling the total. The British Heart Foundation does tremendous work in the local community and we are proud that the money raised by Rossborough will make a direct and positive impact on the people who use the charity.’

Summer Parkin, BHF Fundraising Manager in Jersey, added: ‘Too many Islanders lose their loved ones prematurely or are forced to live with life-changing conditions due to cardiovascular disease and as such, the British Heart Foundation is on a mission to put this heartbreaking disease to an end. We have already made incredible life-saving discoveries, but there is more work to be done and this is only made possible with the support of islanders joining our fight for every heartbeat. We are absolutely delighted that Rossborough staff have chosen the BHF Jersey branch to benefit from their dress down days. This is an incredible boost to our local campaign and will help change the lives of Islanders living with this heartless disease.’
