The members of the Rotary Club of Jersey are delighted to continue the important conservation work at Les Mielles de Morville for the Jersey National Park.
We were especially pleased on this last occasion to have the assistance of a group of 32 Scouts from Jersey, Guernsey and Dorset.
The excellent drone footage was captured by Paul Lakeman, a well-known Jersey drone operator and photographer.
The last session was the 7th time the Scouts and Rotarians have worked together at Les Mielles, carrying out such tasks as ragwort pulling, clearing the stinking iris around the Frances Le Sueur centre, cutting reeds on the banks to encourage the growth of orchids and raking cut brambles.
In return for their assistance with this project the Rotary Club of Jersey have agreed to contribute towards the Jersey Scouts’ travel costs to the 25th World Scout Jamboree in August 2023 in South Korea.
This ongoing project aligns with one of the seven areas of focus which underpin the work of Rotary International – Supporting the Environment - and is a wonderful example of service and fellowship on which all Rotary clubs are based.
