Two big community events are launching this weekend, inviting islanders to get swimming or look for tortoises around the island... but that's not the only thing you can get up to this weekend!

What? Following on the heels of the successful ‘Go Wild Gorillas, the Tortoise Takeover is an island-wide, public art trail that will see dozens of uniquely designed tortoise sculptures taking pride of place in local wild places, coastal vistas and urban hangouts as ambassadors for all the work that Durrell undertakes with reptiles across the globe.
When? From Saturday 1 July to Thursday 31 August

What? Swim your way around the island and help raise funds for Jersey Hospice Care and the National Trust for Jersey.
The opening swim will take place on Saturday 1 July at 16:00 and the closing swim on Sunday 30 July at 16:00 both in St. Brelade’s Bay.

What? Join the Biodiversity Centre for a beach blitz cleaning for litter along the beach and pathways. Suitable for all ages.
When? Saturday 1 July – 09:30 to 13:00
Where? St. Saviour’s Parish Hall
What? Grouville Repair Café is hitting the roads. Come along with your broken items, enjoy a lovely cup of tea or coffee, some cake and live music while your item is fixed.

What? R&H Free Summer Fun Run events are back for their third season. They are open to all in the under 9 to under 17 age groups and the run distances are carefully aligned to age group with all abilities able to complete the run at their own pace.
When? Sunday 2 July – 10:00 to 17:00
Where? Howard Davis Park
What? Come celebrate the island’s second public Children’s Day with over 45 charities and organisations. There will be live music from youth performers, entertainment and activities, discounted food and drinks stalls and a community tent for families to access information, advice, and guidance.
