Winter scheduled bus services for Guernsey - new timetable effective from Monday 7 October 2013

Following an extensive period of informal public consultation and the more recent publication of a formal Gazette Notice, the Environment Department is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with CT Plus regarding the services to be operated for the Winter 2013/14 Scheduled Bus Services contract, effective from Monday 7 October 2013.

Following an extensive period of informal public consultation and the more recent publication of a formal Gazette Notice, the Environment Department is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with CT Plus regarding the services to be operated for the Winter 2013/14 Scheduled Bus Services contract, effective from Monday 7 October 2013.

The new winter timetable addresses the majority of issues raised during the consultation process. The key changes are:

• The retention and extension of the current Route 91 (and former Route 111) to provide a regular (two-hourly) service around the Island;
• The introduction of an anticlockwise Route 92 mirroring the Route 91;
• The re-timing of certain (am) peak services into St. Peter Port, particularly on the routes 11, 61, 71 and 81, to ensure that these and subsequent services run to timetable, thereby providing greater certainty for College students and commuters using these services;
• An enhanced hourly frequency throughout the day on the Route 61;
• The continuation of the recently reintroduced additional early morning and afternoon 'peak' services on the Route 61;
• The reintroduction of direct links between the Airport, the Grange and the PEH on the Route 71;
• A re-organisation and simplification of the Route 11 together with the introduction of a new Route 12 linking Pembroke, Vale Church, L'Ancresse, L'Islet and The Bridge with the Terminus;
• The introduction of a new Route 93 which, together with the Routes 91 & 92, will ensure an hourly service between L'Eree, Fort Grey, Pleinmont, Torteval Church and the Terminus;
• Extended running times on a number of routes (specifically the 41, 42 and 81) to ensure that services regularly and consistently run to time;
• Adjustments to a number of other specific service timings to better meet commuter and student demands;
• Re-timing of services between the Terminus and the PEH to provide a more regular and convenient service.

The Environment Department has not changed the current fare structure but is going to review the matter ahead of next year's proposed summer timetable changes. This review will take into account the outcome of the debate on the proposed Transport Strategy that the Department intends to take to the States sometime in the New Year.
