On Tuesday 13th November 100 students from across the island will be joining together for the chance to be crowned BIMA Digital Day champions and to win £500 for their schools.
BIMA Digital day is aimed at 13-16 years and gives students an insight into the world of digital careers that they may not have considered before.
Students will be given a choice of three digital challenges to work on and at the end of the day they will present them to a judging panel of local digital experts. Teams from each challenge will be crowned as champions and there will be additional prizes for innovative ideas and great team-work.
The event, which has been organised by Women in Tech, Jersey group, will take place at Fort Regent.
The day starts with presentations from local digital professionals who will share their own career experiences and provide insight into the breadth of careers available in digital.
Students from Beaulieu, Hautlieu, Haut Vallee, Jersey College for Girls and Victoria College will be attending the day.
Media are invited to attend the event and interview students, teachers and digital professionals from 12pm onwards. Students usually continue to work on their challenges during the lunch break

“Women in Tech are excited to be hosting our first BIMA event with a number of secondary schools all at once. It's a fantastic opportunity for students to get an insight into digital jobs that they wouldn't necessarily see or hear about. We are also pleased to have so many technical and digital women at the event demonstrating that digital is for girls too!”
“BIMA was an event that I participated in whilst I was still at school which led me to a career in Digital. It is something I would love for other students to be able to experience.”
