A team of three experienced fiduciary professionals has been hired by Albecq Trust Company Limited to establish a niche private funds division.
Craig Robert has joined the business as a director of Albecq Services Limited, supported by chartered accountant Janette Robert and longstanding relationship manager Tony Rouillard.
Mr Robert spent 14 years working for the Guernsey office of a private bank, in particular in the private client area where he gained experience in private trust, class B funds and private family funds, dealing with all aspects of fund structures. He rose to the position of associate director.
He said: “Our area of expertise is a bespoke market inasmuch as it’s neither institutional fund business nor private client trust work. A private fund has investment fund characteristics and usually holds family investments so it appeals in particular to high net worth families, family offices and small groups of club investors.
“It’s a blend of a private client relationship with an institutional type vehicle, most often structured as limited partnerships or cell structures.”
Mik Underdown, Managing Director of Albecq Trust, said: “This is a great opportunity for development of our business model as we continue to expand into complementary areas. It is a good fit with our boutique, quirky private client offering.
“Bringing new people on board, especially when they excel at what they do, broadens the skills and qualifications base as well as supporting our objective to provide what clients want.”
Mr Robert said that the business culture at Albecq provided the opportunity for his team to further develop the service they provide to clients which will be complemented by the technical ability of the existing Albecq team.
Albecq is an independent business that now employs 15 people.
