The Managing Director of Regional Banking at Metro Bank, which opened in 2010 as Britain’s first ‘challenger bank’, will be sharing his unique insight with a local audience on Tuesday 30 June.

Chris Brindley, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the retail banking industry, is a leading advocate of community banking and has led teams to top awards in sales, customer service and employee engagement throughout his career. His keynote presentation at the event, titled ‘Staying competitive in the 21st century’, will offer a strategic insight into key issues of finance sector innovation. Mr Brindley will also talk about how Metro Bank does business, where its ideas come from and how they are implemented.

Peter Miller, executive director at EY in the Channel Islands, sponsors of the keynote speech, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting this event, which promotes innovation and the diversification of our local finance sector. Disruptive technologies and practices are really beginning to revolutionise how financial services business is conducted globally and we are in full support of encouraging forward-thinking and entrepreneurship in the Channel Islands.

Mr Brindley will then join a panel discussion on financial services opportunities and their delivery. The other panellists are Nick England, CEO at VFX PLC; Geoff Miller, CEO at GLI Finance Ltd; Gillian Browning, Director of Fiduciary Supervision for the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC); Mike Loginov, CEO of Ascot Barclay Cyber Security Group; and Eric Martineau-Fortin, Managing Partner at White Star Capital. The debate will be moderated by Tim Loveridge, Chief Transformation Officer at the GFSC.

Mr Brindley said: “I am really looking forward to sharing my ideas with a Guernsey audience. The panel discussion will also provide a great forum for debate between UK and Guernsey practitioners, who are leaders in their respective fields.”

Hosted by the GTA University Centre, in conjunction with Guernsey Finance, the event takes place at St Pierre Park Hotel from 4pm, starting with registration and concluding with a networking drinks reception at 6pm. EY is sponsoring Mr Brindley’s keynote speech, while C5 Alliance is sponsoring the drinks reception.
