Football fans will soon discover who their teams will face in Guernsey’s premier football competition.
With a record number of teams taking part in the Guernsey FA Cup, the draw for the competition is being held at the Corbet Field, on 4 November.
Ian Stewart, managing director of sponsor Rossborough Insurance, and Guernsey FA chairman, Chris Schofield, will be overseeing the draw for the contest, which is open to all senior football teams – including those from outside the Priaulx League.
Clubs will be given numbers that will be drawn out of a bag during the draw, said Mr Stewart who urged local fans to support their teams.
‘It’s going to be exciting finding out which teams are going to be playing each other when we make the draw. Rossborough is looking forward to a cracking Guernsey FA Cup competition and is delighted to be able to support the island’s premier football competition,’ said Mr Stewart.
FA chairman Chris Schofield said: ‘The first round is due to begin on the second week of January 2017, running up to the semi-finals at the end of March and the final after that. The venue for the final isn’t decided until we know which teams are competing in the game because traditionally it’s played at a neutral venue.’
