FCG, Guernsey Employer of the Year, has gone bicycle mad in celebration of sponsoring the Tour de Sez and national Cycle to Work Day yesterday (14 September).

With the Tour de Sez underway, and group chief executive officer Ken Acott cycling alongside 63 other riders, FCG staff in Guernsey, as well as their colleagues in Gibraltar, Manchester and Haywards Heath, have set themselves the task of cycling with Ken on every leg of his journey.

FCG staff have set up static bikes on the roof terrace in St Peter Port and the combined efforts of FCG, Skyfire and 1st CENTRAL currently totals 669 miles so far (at the end of Wednesday 14 September).

The Tour de Sez team each individually will complete a 650 mile journey from St Malo to Bilbao in order to raise funds for the Sarah Groves Foundation.

For #cycletoworkday FCG closed its parking garage in Park Street and gave the space over to bike storage and a break room with swing ball, a tennis table and music for staff to enjoy throughout the day. The management also provided free personal fitness monitors to all staff and fresh ingredients for smoothies using the office Nutribullets.

Deputy group chief executive officer, Mike Leonard, said: “FCG, along with 1ST CENTRAL and our Gibraltar-based insurance company Skyfire, has taken wellbeing to the core of the business; it is an intrinsic part of our everyday lives and goes well beyond the norm.

“Being able to cycle along with Ken and the Tour de Sez team, and embracing Cycle to Work Day, is a fantastic way to bring our offices together, support our colleagues and get fit.”

All staff taking part are also donating to the Sarah Groves Foundation.
