Guernsey Electricity’s annual calendar has gone on sale this week with all proceeds going to the Channel Island Air Search. The calendar will feature views of the island as captured by Guernsey Electricity employees.
As a showcase of the creative talent at Guernsey Electricity, the competition offers an opportunity for those who took part to see their work published in the calendar.
Twelve winning images of local beauty spots such as a sunset at Cobo and St Martin’s Point were chosen to appear in the calendar which will be available from the Guernsey Electricity shop, Vets for Pets, Kings Health Club, Oatlands, and Co-op Homemaker for a minimum £2 donation to the Channel Islands Air Search.
Eight different staff members have contributed to the final product. Dave Smart’s work appears several times in the calendar - including the front cover. His photos include views of the Hanois lighthouse, Brehon Tower and Talbot Valley.
Stacey Le Page produced the shots for March (the Moulin Huet water lanes), July (a cruise liner off St Peter Port) and September (Saumarez Park).
Jeremy Aston’s photos feature for the months of August, taken outside the Royal Court buildings, and January, the sun setting at Cobo.
June is Brian Thorburn’s photo of St Peter Port Harbour. Mike Lloyd and Adam Greening also provided their pictures of St Martin’s Point and Les Cotils while Steve Pattimore and John McCartney also contributed with photos of Bordeaux and the Route de Quanteraine.
Overall winner Dave Smart, Senior Network Specialist, chose the charity that would benefit from calendar sales.
Clare Brouard, Communications Manager at Guernsey Electricity said: “The calendars are always received well and the staff enjoy some healthy competition all for a great cause. The calendars feature some truly beautiful photographs of the island and it is great that these can be appreciated by the public whilst helping a deserving charity. It’s also great to support the Channel Island Air Search and the important life-saving work they do.”
Last year the calendars benefitted the GSPCA and raised a total of £2,313.
