Cain Hill, an independent horror film by writer / director Gene Fallaize, will be screened at Beau Cinema on Friday 29 September 2017. It stars Gemma Atkinson, Alex Zane, Michael Parr and Phill Martin and follows a documentary film crew as they explore an abandoned asylum. The film will be introduced by the director who will also take part in a question and answer session after the screening.
The screening is sponsored by the Guernsey Arts Commission and supported by Beau Cinema. Whilst in Guernsey Gene Fallaize will also be taking part in an educational session with students from the Guernsey College of Further Education and the Guernsey Grammar School.
Cain Hill has received favourable reviews from horror publications including Diabolique Magazine who called it a “…rare independent horror gem…’ and LoveHorror.co.uk who said “It’s a film that displays appreciation for horror and reminds fans of the reasons they became attached to the genre in the first place.” The film has recently been purchased for worldwide distribution including a simultaneous UK / US release in early 2018.
Gene Fallaize started his media career at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital’s Jubilee Radio. After working for various local and national Radio and TV stations, he earned his first feature film Executive Producer credit on Outlaw (2006) starring Sean Bean and Bob Hoskins. He has produced award-winning short films and features and was a finalist in the Best Director category at the 2016 TMC London Film Festival. In 2012 Gene executive-produced horror/thriller Airborne starring Mark Hamill, Julian Glover and Gemma Atkinson. Currently, Gene is directing big-budget action / fantasy Dark Ascension, working on the high profile Dudley Moore biopic Dudley and is working on a film based in the Channel Islands which he hopes to start filming in Guernsey in 2018. Gene said: “For all the Premiere's I've had and been to, and all the Q&A sessions I've done, there is something very special about having one in my home island at the cinema that I used to go to.”
