HSBC Bank has strengthened its senior team in Guernsey with two new appointments in its Corporate Banking and Retail Banking divisions.
Sally Spencer has been appointed as Head of Corporate Banking, whilst Mhairi Thomsett has been made Head of Retail Banking, both at HSBC Guernsey.
In her new role, Sally will focus on leveraging HSBC’s global footprint in order to help internationally dynamic local businesses thrive, and on ensuring that the Bank’s broad range of local corporate customers receive outstanding service.
Sally has extensive experience, having worked within the Bank for three decades and across various business areas, including in Global Banking, the Retail branch network, and Corporate Banking. She moves to Guernsey from the UK, and is making the most of her new home by exploring the Island’s beautiful coastline.
Also moving to Guernsey to take up her new position, Mhairi assumes responsibility for the Bank’s retail banking business and branch network across Guernsey, Sark and Alderney.
Before moving to the Channel Islands, Mhairi spent sixteen years in the UK working within HSBC’s Retail Banking and Wealth Management business in a variety of portfolio management and leadership roles.
Both Mhairi and Sally will also be working closely with Brian Sproat, who heads up Guernsey’s Premier Wealth Management business.
Commenting on her new role, Sally said: “Our focus is very much on offering customers the best possible service. To that end and in order to continue to ensure our broad range of local corporate customers receive first class support, I am looking forward to working closely with both Brian and Mhairi, to draw on the strengths of both our wealth management division and first class branch network.”
Mhairi added: “HSBC places a strong focus on the local community and, with the support of our fantastic branch team across the Bailiwick, this is something I will be looking to prioritise over the coming months.”
