The Saffery Rotary Walk committee is urging islanders to take advantage of the early bird offers for the 20th Saffery Rotary Walk.

Registration officially opened in December for the 2017 Saffery Rotary Walk, Guernsey’s only around-the-island walk, and walkers have until the end of January to take advantage of lower sign-up fees.

Those who register before 31 January will pay £20, after which time the registration fee will increase to £25.

Relay teams can also take advantage of the extended offer. Teams consisting of a maximum of seven walkers who wish to take on a section of the walk can benefit from an early bird price of £100, which will then increase to £140.

Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder and Lady Corder are leading by example and have already committed to take on the challenge in celebration of the walk’s 20th anniversary.

Walkers start and finish at the Weighbridge, St Peter Port, and will progress clockwise around the coast covering 39 miles of cliff paths and coastal terrain.

Chair of the Saffery Rotary Walk, Simon Milsted, said: “The walk is one of the island’s leading charitable events and we’re hoping that the 20th anniversary will be the biggest yet.

“January is the perfect time to set goals for the year and with a reduced entry fee it’s a great opportunity to sign up to the challenge and support lots of local charities.”

A record 28 charities have been chosen to receive funding from money raised at the 20th anniversary walk which takes place on Saturday 3 June.

Sponsor Saffery Champness is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the island and is pleased to be supporting the walk in its 20th year.

Registration is available through the newly designed website: www.safferyrotarywalk.gg via the online sign-up and fundraising platform Race Nation which also enables people to donate through a secure online server.
