The Saffery Rotary Walk committee is inviting local charities to apply for a portion of next year’s funds.

Charities have until 5pm on Friday 24 November to apply for funding.

Submissions from projects of all sizes will be considered and can be made by any locally-registered charity or not–for-profit organisation in need of financial support for a specific initiative. Requests for funds to cover general running costs will not be considered.

This year’s 20th anniversary Saffery Rotary Walk, sponsored by Saffery Champness, supported a record 28 local community projects that received funding from the £85,430 raised.

Simon Milsted, chair of the walk’s organising committee, said: “The walk is one of the leading charity events on the island and has provided funds for a wealth of charitable projects since its inception in 1998.

“2017 was a momentous year in the walk’s history and broke many of its records including funds raised, charities supported, numbers of walkers registered and the widest possible inclusion of walkers from throughout the Guernsey community.

“The walk has grown tremendously in the last 21 years and we are always looking for ways to improve. Our volunteers’ and participants’ dedication to helping local projects by taking on such a huge challenge is inspiring.”

Lisa Vizia, director at Saffery Champness and member of the Walk organising committee, said: “Saffery Champness takes a very hands-on approach to its sponsorships and one of the attractions of the walk for us, when we took on the headline sponsorship in 2014, was that through our involvement we could help raise funds and awareness for so many local charities. If you are involved with a locally-registered charity I would highly recommend applying.”

Application forms can be downloaded online on the website: www.safferyrotarywalk.com and should be via email to info@safferyrotarywalk.com.  Forms can also be collected from Saffery Champness’ office at La Tonnelle House, Les Banques, St Sampson’s and all details and guidance can be found on the website.   Applications must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 24 November 2017. This deadline is final and there will be no extension this year.

Next year’s event takes place on Saturday 9 June and online walker registration for discounted early bird places will open in December.  Walkers can find out more online at www.safferyrotarywalk.com
