The Saffery Rotary Walk committee is looking for charities to apply for a portion of the funds that will be raised at next year’s event.
Charities have just over a month to apply for funding through a brand new website, launched in celebration of the walk’s 20th anniversary next year.
Submissions from projects of all sizes will be considered and can be made by any locally-registered charity or not–for-profit organisation in need of financial support for a specific initiative. Funds to cover running costs will not be considered and applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 25 November.
This year’s Saffery Rotary Walk, sponsored by Saffery Champness, supported a record 18 local community projects that received funding from the £57,526 raised.
Simon Milsted, chair of the walk’s organising committee, said: “The walk is one of the leading charity events on the island and has provided funds for a wealth of charitable projects since its inception in 1998.
“The walk has grown tremendously in the last 20 years and we are always looking for ways to improve. Our volunteers’ and participants’ dedication to helping local projects by taking on such a huge challenge is inspiring. It would be wonderful if we could support 20 charities at next year’s event to spur on our walkers’ fundraising efforts and make it the most successful walk in its history.”
