Andy Finch, head of wealth management at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, Guernsey said: “Congratulations to all of the runners who took part in this year’s Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Guernsey Marathon and Relay Races.
“We are proud to sponsor a local event which is attracting runners from around the world and having such a positive impact on Guernsey tourism. The Marathon also helps to raise much-needed funds for the Guernsey Cheshire Home, an extremely worthy local charity which relies entirely on public donations so we’re very pleased to be supporting them again.
“The Marathon would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the organisers and their team of volunteers. Thank you to them and all those who support the event and helped make it such a success on the day.”
Peter Head, event director of the Guernsey Marathon, said: “80% of marathon runners who entered this year’s event were overseas competitors which means we succeeded in breaking the record for the number of international entrants in the history of the Guernsey Marathon.
“Runners from 21 international countries from as far afield as the United States and Israel took part and entrants from the Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark and Hungary all competed for the first time this year.
“It’s gratifying to see the number of international runners increasing year on year and the fact that they are travelling from all over the world to run the Guernsey Marathon is really fantastic for the island. Guernsey is well and truly on the international marathon map and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more entrants from around the globe at next year’s event.”
The next Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Guernsey Marathon will take place on Sunday 27 August 2017.
