Leading international law firm, Mourant Ozannes, has continued its support of Guernsey's fiduciary sector with its sponsorship of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Guernsey's lecture series for the second consecutive year.
STEP runs two events per month during lunchtimes and evenings, covering educational, industry specific courses and presentations for the 700-strong membership and also non-members. The 2015 series, which attracted high profile speakers such as Stephenson Harwood's James Quarby, saw over 660 delegates attend the 12 events throughout the season.
The first lecture in the new series, which will take place on 12 September, will cover topics such as an update on the GFSC regulatory approach (PRISM) and risk trends.
Matthew Guthrie, partner at Mourant Ozannes and member of the STEP Guernsey branch committee, said: "Our International Trusts and Private Client practice has always been supportive of the local branch of STEP and this will be our second year sponsoring the lecture series. The events are highly regarded in the fiduciary community for covering a wide variety of topics and providing top quality speakers to keep members up-to-date with current trends and practices. Trust practitioners in Guernsey have an acknowledged reputation for their high standards of experience and expertise and we are proud to support STEP in ensuring this reputation continues."
Alasdair McLaren, chairman of the STEP Guernsey Branch, said: "It is our aim to provide STEP members with the best quality speakers, topics that are of direct relevance to their work and the chance to continuously upskill and network with their peers. The Guernsey lecture series is extremely popular but is still dependent on the support of sponsors to allow it to provide the wide variety of lunchtime and evening lectures. We are delighted to partner with a firm of Mourant Ozannes' calibre and their sponsorship will enable us to continue providing these valuable events for our members."
