Recently promoted funeral director, Geoff Savident has worked his way through the ranks at Beckfords since beginning with the family run funeral services in 2011.
Beginning as a Bearer for the company five years ago, Geoff worked on a casual basis as and when needed which progressed to a permanent, part-time position with Beckfords as assistant funeral coordinator.
Beckford’s managing director, Jane Duquemin is delighted Geoff is now part of the full-time team.
“Geoff has worked with Beckford’s since 2011 and as such, has a great understanding of our business and the special way we deal with planning funerals and most importantly comforting the bereaved. As we move into a new era of funeral directing with trends shifting towards pre-planning of funerals and many more people expressing their funeral wishes, Geoff is experienced to deal with these requests in the welcoming and professional way we do things at Beckford’s.”
Whilst Geoff worked part-time at Beckford’s he was also a well-known self-employed taxi driver, a job he enjoyed for forty years and was President of the Taxi Drivers Federation from 2009 to 2014. Geoff’s other interests include bowls, a sport where he was President of Bowls Guernsey from 2008 to 2013 and Island singles champion in 2005 and went on to represent Guernsey in New Zealand at the World Bowls Championships in 2006.
Newly appointed full-time funeral director Geoff Savident says: “Being a funeral director gives the opportunity to look after the bereaved in their time of need and give them all the support we can. It is the most rewarding job and I’m pleased this has progressed into a full-time role with Guernsey’s longest established funeral directors.”
