Tricia Stewart, one of the original Women’s Institute Calendar Girls, is to speak at the Women’s Development Forum on International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8 March.

WDF founder Michelle Johansen says, ‘The theme this year for International Women’s Day is “Be Bold for Change” and is all about taking ground-breaking action that truly drives the greatest change for women.

‘What Tricia and the Calendar Girls did was certainly bold and changed for ever the image of the WI and the perception of older women. People admired their courage.

‘Tricia is an incredibly inspirational, motivating and amusing speaker and we are delighted to be able to welcome her as our speaker.’

Around 100 women and men will be at the event, which is sponsored by RBC Wealth Management. It is the sixth of ten organised for the 2016/17 WDF season in Guernsey, tackling topics such as career planning, women as team players, unconscious bias and employment legislation.

Tricia Stewart will come to Guernsey fresh from attending the gala night opening this week of ‘The Girls’, based on the story of the Calendar Girls, at the West End’s Phoenix Theatre. The musical was co-written by Take That’s Gary Barlow and his childhood friend dramatist Tim Firth.
