Saffery Champness Registered Fiduciaries has been shortlisted for Trust company of the year at the 2016/17 STEP Private Client Awards.

Now in their 10th year, the STEP Private Client Awards highlight excellence among private client solicitors and attorneys, accountants, barristers, bankers, trust managers and financial advisors.

Saffery Champness is one of five finalists shortlisted in the category and a winner will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place in September.

These foremost awards for the private client world have become more competitive in 2016 because independent and institutionally-owned firms have been combined in one category.

This year STEP received entries from 19 countries around the world across 15 categories, showcasing the international appeal of the awards.

STEP states on its website: “The standard of entries was very high and we would like to congratulate all the finalists on getting to this stage. Being shortlisted for a STEP Private Client Award is a great achievement.”

Saffery Champness, one of the largest independent fiduciary service providers in Guernsey, employs 125 people across its trust, funds, tax and accountancy businesses, with its fiduciary team specialising in the provision of services to an international client base. It also has an office in Geneva which employs 20 people.

Managing director of Saffery Champness in Guernsey, Nick Batiste, said: “Being nominated for this award is a great achievement. There’s tough competition in the trust company category; we’re really proud to be shortlisted and looking forward to representing Guernsey at the awards in September.”

Saffery Champness was shortlisted in the ‘Trust company of the year’ category last year as well as being named Guernsey Trust Company of the Year at the Citywealth International Financial Centres Awards and receiving a bronze award in the ‘Company of the year award: Female Leadership (Professional services)’ category at the inaugural Citywealth Power Women awards. This year has seen the company win the ‘Trust Company of the Year Institutional’ category at the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards 2016 and the independent trust company category at the Wealthbriefing European awards.
