The first of Les Bourgs Hospice’s 30/30 challenges is just over a month away and islanders are being encouraged to register for the event and walk every day during April.
The series of fundraising events starts with Walk 30 ways in 30 days during April, followed by the 30/30 cycle challenge in May, 30 bays in 30 days in July and finishes with 30 runs in 30 days in October. This year’s Walk 30 ways in 30 days has a new sponsor in PraxisIFM and is hoping to increase the number of participants.
‘The momentum of the 30/30 challenges continues to grow. Islanders seem to love the idea of challenging themselves while helping others and the aim of the 30/30s is to offer something for everyone, no matter what their age or fitness,’ said Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising administrator Trish De Carteret.
‘PraxisIFM wants to be a very active sponsor and will be getting involved in the challenge and putting on a celebration at the end for everyone who has taken part. Having a sponsor is hugely important as it means every penny raised will be used by Les Bourgs Hospice to provide care for Bailiwick residents facing the challenge of a life-limiting illness.’
From 1st April, participants will walk each day with the aim of walking somewhere different every time. Mrs De Carteret added that this is not essential, but does make the walking more fun.
‘By supporting such events we can make a tangible difference to causes which mean so much to islanders. Les Bourgs Hospice is one of Guernsey’s best loved charities and it’s a privilege for PraxisIFM to support them in their tireless efforts,’ said Simon Thornton, group CEO at PraxisIFM.
The Walk 30 ways in 30 days starts on 1st April and registration, which costs £10 for adults and £5 for children, can be done online at www.lesbourgshospice.org.gg or by completing a registration form and returning it to Les Bourgs Hospice. PraxisIFM has also provided money to subsidise branded t-shirts, which are available at a reduced cost of £10.
