Sure has appointed Alan Ibbotson as chief financial officer based in the company’s Guernsey office.
In his new role Mr Ibbotson is responsible for the overall financial strategy and risk management of Sure in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, South Atlantic and Diego Garcia and will oversee the company’s financial planning and accounting, data analysis and procurement.
He takes over the role of chief financial officer from Gareth Fooks who will be moving within the Batelco Group to Kuwait as CFO of Qualitynet.
Mr Ibbotson joins Sure with an extensive background in financial accounting and operational management. He has a degree in History and Politics from Leeds University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales with more than 20 years’ post-qualification experience.
In previous roles Mr Ibbotson was the head of finance at Orange UK and Telefonica UK and was responsible for various commercial and financial activities at these companies. More recently he was the chief financial officer for telecommunications companies Digicel in Myanmar and VimpelCom in Zimbabwe.
