SURE Big Screen has been listed alongside events in Australia, America and South Africa in a roundup of the world’s top outdoor cinemas.

MSN Travel, which receives 223,000 monthly unique visitors, named Sure Big Screen alongside St George in Sydney, The Galileo in Cape Town, Film on the Rocks in Colorado and four outdoor cinemas in London.

‘The Sure Big Screen has become one of the island’s most popular summer events and so for it to be recognised as one of the top outdoor cinemas in the world is fantastic news for Sure and for Guernsey as a whole,’ said Sure’s marketing and PR manager Jessica Bisson.

‘There are only a few weeks to go until this year’s Sure Big Screen and we have worked hard on putting together a schedule that has something for everyone. As MSN Travel highlights, the setting at Cobo is so picturesque and the event is completely free which is what makes it so popular. Hopefully this year’s event will befit Sure Big Screen’s status as one of the best outdoor cinemas in the world.’

This year’s Sure Big Screen runs from 19th to 25th August and will see three showings every day. The line up includes The Lego Movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Plastic, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Last Vegas, Philomena, and Anchorman 2. The showing of the sing-a-long version of Frozen on Sunday 24 August at 2.30pm is expected to be the most popular throughout the week.

‘We’ve had an amazing summer of sunshine and we’re hoping that continues so that we can see a record number of people coming down to watch the films,’ said Miss Bisson.
