A team of volunteers from local firm Saffery Champness has assisted with the tidying up of the sensory gardens at Delancey Park ahead of the winter months.

The clear-up, organised by Nigel Dorey from the Rotary Club of Guernsey, saw a team of 10 volunteers from the firm and their family and friends assist with weeding, planting, pruning, removing any litter and giving the garden area a general tidy up.

In 2011, Saffery Champness donated funds for the development of the sensory gardens and has regularly supported the Rotary Club, which is responsible for maintaining the garden. The firm also assisted with the funding for a defibrillator to be installed at the college, next to the park, for the benefit of all those in the area in the event of an emergency.

Managing director of Saffery Champness Nick Batiste said: “Saffery Champness is committed to improving the community in which we work. Delancey Park is a key part of community life, and with it being in our parish, and so close to our offices, it is important that we do our part to ensure that it is maintained properly for everybody’s enjoyment.”

Nigel Dorey of the Rotary Club of Guernsey said: “We are very grateful to firms like Saffery Champness who give up their spare time to help with community projects. The garden takes a lot or maintaining throughout the year, especially in Spring and Autumn. Saffery Champness is always eager to assist with the clear-ups and their help is much appreciated.”
