If you have been issued a company iPhone which runs on iOS 9.3 or later, there’s a chance you might be receiving a notification from Apple telling you that your phone is being monitored by your employer.

It seems the tech giant may be taking steps towards improving transparency for its device users with a permanent reminder that their phone is being supervised in their the iOS 9.3 beta update.

The message showed up on Reddit user MaGNeTiX‘s phone saying: “This iPhone is managed by your organisation.”

And in Settings, another message elaborates: “This iPhone is supervised. [Your company] can monitor your internet traffic and locate this device.”

“Whilst this change doesn’t help improve user privacy, devices are still trackable in the same way by companies if under MDM, it does improve transparency about what is going on,” writes 9to5mac.

In a separate update, it has been revealed that iOS 9.3 will also allow administrators to lock apps on your iPhone – meaning they can stop you from downloading apps that you want and uninstall apps of their choice under MDM (Mobile Device Management).

The news comes amid a legal battle between Apple and the FBI, which is seeking help in hacking the iPhone of one of the suspects from the gun attack in San Bernardino.
