Video games are great. Let’s face it, you’re never going to be able to shift your weight like Lionel Messi, or even like Gary Cahill, so having the option to become a world beater through your console is nice.
Likewise you’re never going to receive orders from a contract agency to track down a Serbian arms dealer and stealthily murder him in a mansion. Your PlayStation is (hopefully) the only route open to you for becoming an assassin – but no longer.
An unnamed games developer (likely IO Interactive) contacted Realm Pictures, responsible for high-concept videos like this, to see if a real-life version of Hitman could be created. The end result has everything you want: tension, panic, cunning, outside-the-box thinking and a lot of originality.
Bravo. The actor playing Agent 47, Liam Brennan, got the movement spot on – and the creativity that some of the gamers involved showed is praiseworthy, if possibly a little worrying. Especially the one who ordered Agent 47 to kill a guy “just for the pleasure”.
The new Hitman game comes out on March 11, and has a lot to live up to…
