A 60-year-old man who accidentally drove a car included in the purchase of a hotel without insurance has been fined.
Dennis Hobson admitted driving to the Airport without insurance in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
He explained that he had taken over La Haule hotel and restaurant and several vehicles had been included as part of the deal.
On 11 February, he had driven to Jersey Airport in one of them without checking that it was insured.
Relief Magistrate Sarah Fitz accepted that the offence was down to negligence rather than a deliberate attempt to evade paying for insurance and decided not to disqualify Hobson from driving.
As well as imposing a £1,500 fine she endorsed his licence for three years.
