56-year-old arrested after weekend street fight

A man in his 50s was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of grave and criminal assault following a street fight in St. Helier.

Witnesses reported two men fighting in in the area of Halkett Street and Hilgrove Street in town on Saturday.

A 56-year-old was arrested following the disturbance, which occurred around 21:00. 

He has since been released on bail.

Police are now investigating what happened. They believe there were other members of the public in the area at the time of the incident, and are asking those who witnessed it to contact them on 612612 or make an anonymous report via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
