A local pop-punk band is hosting a concert to raise money for those impacted by Storm Ciarán – inspired by a viral video of their friend's window being shattered by severe winds while she slept next to her baby.
The event is being hosted by local band 88 Bunkface at the Blue Note Bar next Friday (17 November), with all money raised going towards the Bailiff's Appeal.
88 Bunkface is a local pop-punk band covering material from the 1990s and 2000s such as Blink 182, Green Day, and The Offspring, in addition to their original material.
Guitarist and vocalist Adam True spoke to Express about the band's motivation for the fundraising concert.
He said that the "lightbulb moment" to host the gig was when the band saw their friend Jess O'Reilly's window being destroyed by Storm Ciaran in a video that hit national headlines.
She was sleeping when the 100mph gusts blew her window in, forcing her to flee with her young daughter who was in her cot next to her.

Adam explained: "Thankfully, all of us in the band came out of the storm okay, but we knew we wanted to do something to help everyone who wasn’t so lucky, and a charity gig seemed like the best way for us to do it.
"We’re only a little island that just went 12 rounds with a very strong and windy 'boi'."
He added: "People have lost their homes, their cars, their ducks – you name it.
"If we can’t come together now to help each other, then honestly what’s the point."
At the gig, 88 Bunkface is inviting others to join them on stage and play instruments or sing.
Interested musicians can contact them via social media to participate.
88 Bunkface will also host a charity raffle at the event to raise further funds for the Bailiff's Appeal, with Adam adding: "We’re working on prizes at the moment, and for anyone reading, we’re open to donations!"
The Bailiff’s Appeal was set up by the island's civic head, Sir Timothy Le Cocq, to aid individuals and families facing displacement and hardship due to the storm.
Sir Timothy said: “Storm Ciarán has left many having to move out of their homes and in need of short-term help to see them over a difficult and traumatic time.
“The generosity and community spirit of islanders comes to the fore in times like this.
“It will be targeted initially at those displaced and in need of immediate help as a result of Storm Ciarán.
The concert is set for The Blue Note Bar on Friday 17 November 17, at 19:30.
