A motorist who committed "one error in many years of good driving" has been fined £500.
Andrew Fish (40) appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for failing to insure his vehicle, which he described as an administrative error.
He said that it was "a complete oversight" and that he has since set a reminder in his calendar to renew his insurance.
The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, said: "You have been negligent, but it is not as if you couldn’t care less, you’ve always cared about [insurance].
"It was one error in many years of good driving and there is no need to disqualify you."
