Jersey Airport will be closed to all but emergency operations until at least this afternoon after suffering "extensive infrastructure, equipment and system failures".
Ports of Jersey said in a statement yesterday evening that it was "striving to open the airport at 2pm tomorrow", but that it would not be able to confirm whether this will be possible until midday.
"Ports of Jersey engineers have been assessing the damage caused by Storm Ciarán and detailed inspections of the airport estate have identified extensive infrastructure, equipment and system failures," the statement read.
"We are working to remedy the faults as quickly as possible, but until the work is completed and the airport is safe, secure and compliant, it has to remain closed to commercial operations."
The operator added that Jersey Airport "remains open for emergencies and medical transfers" and that the harbour is "functioning as normal".
Local pilot Lee McConnell shared a photograph on Facebook of what appeared to be significant damage to the 1937 Arrivals terminal, with railings having fallen from the rooftop.

It comes after the island was battered by 100mph winds on Wednesday and Thursday night, causing serious damage to numerous public buildings – including the General Hospital, several sports premises and the Grand Hotel, among other locations.
Critical infrastructure such as phone and power lines were also hit, severing connections for thousands of islanders. Repair work remains ongoing today.
Islanders are still being advised to stay at home and only travel if essential, with many roads still blocked by fallen trees and other debris.
