The Health service has spent more than £35m on contracts with local charities since 2021, it has emerged – but that’s just one part of a larger (and sometimes fraught) relationship.
It’s no secret that the third-sector has always supported Health, but the new figures add weight to the arguments of those who have long called for more recognition of its role in keeping essential services running.
