Arrests after ‘woman and police officer attacked near beach’

A pair in their 30s have been arrested after a woman was reportedly attacked at on the Dicq Slipway yesterday evening.

Police said in an appeal for more information that the reported attack took place between 18:30 and 18:45 opposite the Thai Dicq Shack.

Officers explained: "A female sustained minor facial injuries as a result of being assaulted at the Dicq Slipway. A male and female in their 30s were subsequently arrested by Police.

"A Police Officer was assaulted during the arrest however received no injuries. At the time the area was busy with numerous members of the public present."

They added that the pair who were arrested were described as wearing "grey-coloured tops and dark shorts."

The Force is asking anyone who saw what happened and has information about "the behaviour of the male and female prior to arrest" to call 612612.
